The National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C. is considered to be the primer art collection in the USA. With more than 150,000 paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photographs, prints, and drawings it spans the history of Western art and includes pieces by some of the most famous artists who ever lived. This series of recorded talks will explore those who are very well known and those who perhaps should be from the Renaissance to Impressionism. We will look at a vast array of styles, eras, materials and movements in this weekly installments over a period of 10 weeks. Artists covered including Leonardo da Vinci, Whistler, Monet, Rembrandt, Manet, David and El Greco along with American artists such as Mary Cassatt, Winslow Homer, Thomas Cole and John Singer Sargent. Truly something for everyone.
