Washington D.C. Art History Trip
Join me for this six-day art history trip to two incredible cities with some of the most important art collections in the world!
Provisional Itinerary
Day 1:
10 am The Philips Collection
A world renowned collection of European and American art including important Impressionist paintings all housed in the original house of the collectors.
2 pm National Museum of Women in the Arts
A museum dedicate to the often overlooked women in the arts, the collection is full of gems including work by Frida Kahlo, Susan Valadon, Lavinia Fontana and so many more.
4 pm Tour of the Monuments and memorial sculptures - A local bus tour will bring us to many of the most famous sculptures and monuments in the United States of American from the Washington monument to the Lincoln memorial which really needs to be experienced in person for scale along.
Day 2:
10 am The National Gallery of Art
Split chronologically between two buildings this is an extraordinary collection of some of the most famous works of art in the world from Leonardo da Vinci to Picasso. The buildings are impressive too and match the eras of the artworks on display. The whole story of Western art history can be traced here with some of the finest examples.
Day 3 Sunday
10 am National Portrait Gallery
This is a fascinating collection with so many familiar faces on display from Pocahontas to Presidents to Oprah Winfrey. There is a wonderful combination of people from the visual arts, performing arts, and new media along with those who should be remember like activists and people from marginalised groups. Its collection weaves together story and biography from precolonial times to the present to tell the American story.
Described as the nation’s first collection of American art, is an unparalleled record of the American experience.The collection captures the aspirations, character, and imagination of the American people throughout three centuries. Famous artists are include along with those that are lesser know or unknown in some case, there is a particularly good modern folk and self-taught art, African American art, Latino art and even video games.

Refunds will only be given if I cancel the trip and will not cover your flights and accommodation.
T&C: Please pay in full by December 31st after which time there will be no refund (please have your own travel insurance).
If I cancel the trip there will be a full refund of the fee paid to me only.
If you cancel before December 31st you will receive a full refund.
N.B. Please do not book any non-refundable accommodation etc before confirmation on December 31st as I will need a minimum number of travelers to run the trip.

There will be plenty of breaks throughout each day.
We will use public transport, taxis and trains for long distances, shorter distances will be on foot, no more than 30 minutes walking at a time.
