Description: Join me for a Spanish adventure, a little Winter sunshine and a lot of beautiful art and architecture. Both Seville and Cordoba have a wealth of art museums and beautiful monuments that reflect the areas diverse history from the Roman Empire through the Islamic influence and the Christian times. We will explore each city and I will guide you through centuries of artistic creations and local history.

Day 1 & 3: Seville

Seville Cathedral

Catedral de Santa María de la Sede, is a Catholic cathedral in Seville, Andalusia, Spain. It is one of the largest churches in the world and the largest Gothic cathedral. A treasure trove of art from paintings to sculpture and incredible stained-glass window. It is also the burial place of Christopher Columbus, well one of them!

Alcázar of Seville

A historic royal palace in Seville, Spain and one of the official residences of the Spanish royal family. It was formerly the site of the Islamic-era citadel of the city.

Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo

Located in the stunning Monastery of the Carthusian of Seville, the collection ranges from the 1950s to the present day. Including both modern Spanish and international art from a permanent collection as well as temporary exhibitions.

Seville Museum of Fine Arts

A collection of mainly Spanish visual arts from the medieval period to the early 20th century, including a choice selection of works by artists from the so-called Golden Age of Sevillian painting during the 17th century, such as Murillo, Zurbarán, Francisco de Herrera the younger, and Valdés Leal.

Palace of the Countess of Lebrija

A house museum dating to the 16th century and remodeled between the 18th and 20th centuries, the palace is characterised by its collection of art, including Roman mosaics and other antiquities as well as Asian art, paintings by European masters and European decorative arts.

Casa Fabiola - Art Donation Mariano Bellver and Dolores Mejías

Since 2018 it houses the Bellver Museum, which contains the art collection of Mariano Bellver, donated to the City of Seville. It has more than 500 works of art.

Museum of Arts and Popular Customs of Seville

The museum occupies the Mudéjar Pavilion (Pabellón Mudéjar) designed by Aníbal González and built in 1914. It was founded as a section of the Museum of Fine Arts, and the largest and most significant portion of the collection came from that museum. Particularly notable are the Aguiar collection of costumbrista paintings; the Soria collection of Oriental porcelain and ivory; and some pieces from the Orleans and Gestoso collections.

Hospital de la Caridad

The charity hospital, founded in 1674, is a beautifully designed building and contains a beautiful intact Sevillian church. Bartolomé Esteban Murillo in 1668 painted eight paintings commissioned for Seville's Hermandad de la Caridad, to which the artist himself belonged

Day 2: Cordoba (45 mins on train from Seville)

The Fine Arts Museum of Córdoba

The collection covers the evolution of Cordoban painting and sculpture between the 14th and 20th centuries. Of particular interest is the Baroque and 19th century, often by Cordoban or Andalusian artists, although it also features works by Italian Renaissance masters. Artists include Bartolomé Bermejo, Valdés Leal, Murillo, Luis de Morales, Zurbarán, Ribera, Antonio del Castillo and the local sculptor Mateo Inurria.

Museo Julio Romero De Torres

This museum houses the largest collection of canvases by the Cordoban painter, along with a series of objects that provide insight into his personal, artistic, and historical profile, as well as the reception of his work.

The Mosque–Cathedral of Córdoba

The Cathedral of Mesquita is known for its architectural masterpiece, blending Islamic and Christian elements. The complete evolution of the Omeyan style in Spain can be seen in its different sections, as well as the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles of the Christian part.
