Description: This era of American art from 1950 to 1990 could be considered a Golden age, it certainly sees the USA take centre stage in the development of many 20th century art movements from abstraction, conceptualism, performance, identity politics, and the rise of postmodern aesthetics. This course explores key movements, artists, and socio-political contexts shaping American art from the post-WWII period to the end of the Cold War. Artists to be discussed include: Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Jasper Johns, Carolee Schneemann, Agnes Martin, Sol LeWitt, Judy Chicago, Yoko Ono, Jeff Koons, Jean-Michel Basquiat and Keith Haring
You can attend in-person, live online or catch up with the recordings which will remain available for two months after the end of the course.
